A look at the camera and media sharing capabilities of the new Samsung Galaxy S3

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has finally been released after months of rumors about its possible specifications. The Korean tech giant’s new Android flagship was unveiled today and first impressions look great. Although there is much to discuss about the features of the phone, in this article I will take a look at the camera.

Many people expected a 12-megapixel camera to grace the spec sheet for Samsung’s latest Android powerhouse. Turns out it has an 8-megapixel camera, just like its predecessor, the Galaxy S2. However, this is not a reason for disappointment. It’s Samsung’s most advanced camera, thanks in no small part to both its quad-core processor and the numerous upgrades made to Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, which perfectly complements the ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ Android platform which, of course, is the latest version of the popular software.

When you tap the on-screen shutter button, the photo will be captured instantly, which is where the processor shows its benefits. The fast camera interface also allows you to return to camera mode after less than a second after viewing a photo after taking it. You can capture 3 photos per second manually, allowing you to review and keep the best one, or you can enable the ‘Burst Shot’ feature. This allows you to take up to 20 consecutive shots with a single touch of the capture button. With its built-in software feature, the best one will be recommended for you to keep. The Galaxy S3 is also, of course, a very capable device when it comes to video capture. Various resolution settings up to 1080p (Full HD) are included. When you’ve taken a photo or captured a video, of course, you have all the options to share it on various social media platforms, as well as through other devices thanks to connectivity options including DLNA, S Beam and the new ‘AllShare Cast Dongle’ which is an HDMI receiver optimized for the Galaxy S3 (sold separately) that can be used with any HDMI-enabled devices, such as TVs.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 also displays a level of intelligence never before seen in smartphones when it comes to sharing photos on social networking sites like Facebook. With an innovative facial recognition feature, your friends’ photos will be automatically tagged and you can access their profile simply by touching them on the photo.

Besides its camera and media sharing capabilities, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a lot more to get excited about. From an advanced 4.8-inch S-AMOLED display, wireless charging, NFC support, and all new voice recognition software, it was certainly worth the wait.

Samsung Galaxy S3 deals will be available from May 29. In the meantime, I will keep you up to date with everything you need to know about this device in my next articles.
