Review Kingz 550 Comp Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi

Fighter’s Market recently sent me a Kingz 550 Comp Gi for review. I was able to talk to Bruno, the owner of Fighter’s Market, about the other gis they sell and about his decision to sell and market his own brand of gi. Below are my thoughts on the Kingz 550 Comp BJJ Gi.

Fit: Bruno commented that the gi might fit me a little differently because this was his first batch. In the future Kingz will offer my gi size as their A3L (A3 Long) for taller athletes. The skirt was exceptionally long, but it helped keep my gi top from falling apart during long training sessions.

How amazing is that! I generally fit most A3 BJJ models perfectly so if you are around my size 210-230lb but over 6’1 “this may fit perfectly.

Design: I really like this gi from a design perspective. The seam is top = 0 notch and I used it in every training session for about a month to see if it showed any signs of wear. It was not so. I washed it cold and hung it up to dry and it didn’t shrink at all. It still looks new to me.

I really love the heads of the Kingz 550 Comp BJJ Gi. They are very clean and bold, but also very large. The company did a great job of making sure to also include the type of gi that it is (Ripstop, Kingz Light, Kingz Comp) in the leg patches and bottom of the skirt. The shoulder patches really stand out and make this gi something special. I especially like the crown (Kingz) at the tip of the shoulder patches.

Jacket: This gi’s jacket is too long for me, especially in the midsection. I also like the seam tape that Kingz has used on the jacket and like I said before the shoulder patches are amazing. The lapel is thick, but that’s exactly what you would expect from a 550 comp gi.

Pants: The pants on this gi are where he really shows his greatness. They are quite thick and durable, but I didn’t feel burdened when I was rolling. If you like the lighter style of BJJ’s gi pants, definitely check out their lightweight Kingz Ripstop or Kingz 420 models which feature lighter versions of these pants. The pants include a 6-loop drawstring to make sure your gi pants never slip down.

The best part of the Kingz 550 Comp BJJ Gi is the flex panel crotch. I’ve only seen them before on Sprawl gi pants and Hayabusa chalk, so it’s great to find them on this gi.

Overall: This is definitely an awesome gi for the price. Kingz really shows the best aspects of all the other GIS and I especially appreciate the customer service from Fighter’s Market.
