Developments attract residents with the promise of live, work and play

Master-planned communities are popping up across the United States with an attractive offer for residents to live close to their jobs and in close proximity to theaters, restaurants, parks and other city amenities. More than ever, homebuyers are turning to these types of developments for the ability to live, work and play all in one area.

In general, master-planned communities are distinguished from a typical subdivision by the sheer number of services and amenities they offer. Due to their large size, most master-planned communities incorporate extensive recreational amenities such as lakes, golf courses, parks, shopping, and entertainment venues.

One such development, Brambleton, is an award-winning master planned community located in Loudon County, Virginia. Just outside of the nation’s capital, Loudon County has consistently ranked as one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. Brambleton’s design encompasses approximately 6,200 single-family homes, townhomes, luxury apartments and condominiums designed to meet the needs of singles, couples, mature families and active adults. The houses are located among lakes, wooded areas and open spaces. One of the nation’s first high-tech wireless communities, Brambleton incorporates nearly 2,000 acres.

The community’s Town Center plays an active role in bringing area residents together. To celebrate its grand opening, Brambleton Town Center hosted a day of family fun. The event included entertainment for the whole family, children’s activities and a NASCAR simulator and show car. Attendees were also able to sample the great food provided by the restaurant’s retailers and be entered to win a prize in one of many free drawings.

“Brambleton Town Center is a prominent feature within the Brambleton planned residential and commercial development in southeast Loudoun County, Virginia,” said Kim Adams, director of marketing for Brambleton Group, LLC. [helped] Let’s celebrate our new retailers in the daily necessities part of downtown while giving back to our community.”

Brambleton Town Center retailers include: Harris Teeter; Chevy Chase Bank; Deposit of art and frames; A&A Music; froots; caribou coffee; Nick’s Corner Grill; AT&T; Cold Stone Dairy; Come on, Bananas; My Thai place; The beautiful nail spa; hair clippers; B&T Dry Cleaners; Edible arrangements; californian omelette; Underground; Scotto’s Grill Rigatoni; a UPS store; and an animal emergency clinic.

In the summer of 2007, Consolidated Theaters opened its highly anticipated 16-screen multiplex in the second phase of Brambleton Town Center. Residents of Northern Virginia’s master-planned community take advantage of the shorter commute to the theater, stadium seats and, of course, popcorn. “This well-appointed theater fits perfectly with our ongoing vision for Brambleton Town Center,” Adams noted. “Having a neighborhood movie theater will provide yet another opportunity for our residents to improve their quality of life and participate in community events.”

Additional retailers scheduled to open soon in the second phase of Town Center include Birkenstock, Classic Closets & Design, Cradle & Crayon, Edibles Incredible and The Nest Egg. More retailers, like Barnes & Noble, also plan to open stores in the near future.

Throughout the year, residents also participate in special events like summer concerts in the town square, lawn movies, fall festival, and even a neighborhood campout in the park.
