Get the right instructions on how to paint tires the right way

Tire painting needs to be done correctly the first time or else it will be double the work to try to start over.

We will demonstrate how paint rims can be sprayed correctly on the first try so you don’t have to waste unnecessary time.

Any owner’s car tires are a central component of their vehicle’s overall appeal and can be quite expensive. An easy way to maximize the attractiveness of your original wheels is to acquire the proper techniques to paint them a different color. This doesn’t necessarily have to be done with new stock tires, as you can also buy a good set of used tires online and paint them to cover any physical damage such as scratches, scrapes, or dents. Once you get this valuable skill, you can earn extra money by painting them for your friends, neighbors or family.

First step:

Remove the tires from your car, truck, SUV, or truck. Although it is possible to paint them while they are still attached to the vehicle, it is not recommended. You can paint the entire surface of the rims if you remove them, not to mention that it would make it a whole lot easier.

Second step:

Buy some grit sandpaper at your local hardware store, preferably around 320 grit, to smooth out any dents, scrapes, or scratches on the tires. You may not be able to completely remove them, especially deep cuts, but they will be much less noticeable after completing this particular step.

Third step:

Wash each tire thoroughly with a tire cleaner and a soft towel or sponge to remove any sanding residue. Get rid of all visible dirt from the rims, such as grease or oil stains. After that, let them dry completely in the shade and try to avoid leaving them in the sun.

Fourth step:

Now take some etching primer and spray it on the rims in a slow, methodical motion until you have covered the entire surface area of each rim. This particular primer is what will make the paint stick. Be careful with missed spots, as this will make the paint especially thin in that area.

Fifth step:

After you’ve let it dry a bit, you can now proceed to spray painting the rims in any color you want, spraying it evenly and smoothly. Keep in mind that spraying too much paint too quickly will cause smudging and this is why light spraying is recommended and another coat later if not enough coverage.

Step Six:

Let the sprayed paint dry completely in a shady area like your garage or covered area. Afterwards, you will need to spray a layer of clear coat over the paint surface using the same techniques mentioned above. Now let the clear coat dry completely before reinstalling the tires on your vehicle.

If you follow these instructions on how to paint rims carefully, you shouldn’t have any major problems. Painting tires can be fun and can be done as many times as you want. Once acquired, this invaluable knowledge on how to spray paint rims will allow you to customize your rims when your mood calls for it.
