Goodwill spreads peace and happiness

Goodwill refers to an attitude that has feelings of friendship, help, or cooperation. We tend to help only those we know such as family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. What about those around us… strangers and strangers, trees and plants, animals, birds and insects. Do we care when they are in trouble or distress? Honestly, many of us ignore them because we just mind our own business… They are not shown goodwill.

There are several such occasions that we come across in our daily lives. We will see some cases here.

1) Bus ride: When a person with dirty clothes gets on the bus, most of the passengers express their discontent and ask him to take a back seat. However, this is the wrong way to treat a human being. On the contrary, if the same person happens to be a friend, we make him feel close to us.

2) Accident case: Again, if the person involved in a traffic accident is known to you, all kinds of help will be provided. However, the opposite reaction occurs if it is an unknown face.

3) Puppies: Sometimes we notice puppies standing in the middle of the street and screaming for their lost mother. In reality, these youngsters are looking for a kind heart to help them with care and feeding. Once again, no one cares about this tender life, and we just pass by.

4) Birds: Many birds are rapidly becoming extinct from our world due to the selfishness of human beings. Take the case of the sparrows that little by little are disappearing from our neighborhood. People do not know when sparrows are in their region. We will try to help these birds multiply their population, providing grains, water, etc.

A real life incident is narrated below to understand the value of Goodwill.

A doctor waived fees for cesarean delivery. In addition, he gave away the medicines at no cost. The baby’s father is a poor farmhand at a local dairy and the expenses were a huge sum for him. Since the baby is a girl, the doctor released it and intended to help poor parents save money that could in turn be used to educate the young girl. The parents have since deposited the money thus saved in the name of that girl. This happened in the state of Gujarat in India, where the sex ratio is skewed at 886 girls for every 1,000 boys. Perceiving the social implications of this phenomenon, this doctor regularly contributes to society in this way.

So GOODWILL really means showing compassion for those who urgently need some care and attention: the help given to such needy is actually the Will or Good Will of God.
