Aishwarya Rai was born into an ethnic Bunt family in Mangalore, Karnataka. One of his earliest modeling jobs was when he was in ninth grade, for Camlin Pencils. One of his professors at Jai Hind College took pictures of him which were published in a fashion magazine. In 1991, Rai entered the Ford Supermodel contest and was also featured in Vogue magazine. He has been on the cover of Vogue three times. Katrina Kaif began her career as a model at the age of fourteen; her first assignment was for a jewelry campaign. She continued to model in London under a contract with Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses like La Senza and Arcadius, and even walked the runway at London Fashion Week. Kareena Kapoor has relatively no modeling background, but in August 2007 she replaced actress Soha Ali Khan, when she was hired as a brand ambassador for the Globus clothing chain on a two-year contract.

Following the termination of her contract with Globus, Kareena Kapoor expressed her desire to work with an international design house to launch her clothing line internationally; She later explained that her plans had to be put on hold due to previous commitments.
