Sony Ericsson – Mobile phones for every occasion!

They are one of the big names in mobile phones. They are a great company, made of Japanese and Swedish brilliance. They are Sony Ericsson.

Who is Sony Ericsson?

Sony Ericsson is the fourth largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world and the second largest in the United Kingdom. That’s an important distinction to make, and I’ll come back to it later. But for now, suffice it to say that they’re one of the big boys, with one of the most instantly recognizable names in the mobile world. And if it’s not obvious from the name, Sony Ericsson is actually a joint venture between two companies (no prizes for guessing it’s Sony and Ericsson…) That provides a wealth of experience to draw on; Ericsson’s, years of experience in the world of mobile telephony and Sony, even longer in the world of fabulously wonderful consumer electronics.

So in essence what you’re getting is a perfect marriage of worlds, with Sony Ericsson. With that intimate knowledge of mobile phones, combined with Sony’s seemingly bottomless pockets and consumer innovations, it’s a recipe for greatness. Sure, they may not have the power (yet) to take on the almighty Nokia (but then who does?), but their mobile phones are blazing their own red-hot path around the world.

Mobile phones: the cream of the crop

So which Sony Ericsson mobile phones stand out as true world leaders? Well, for starters, in the world of camera phones (one of the biggest areas in mobile history, EVER), they pride themselves on their Cyber-Shot range of phones, whose flagship model, the K850i, is scarily powerful and at 5 megapixels, it produces amazingly good photos. Seriously, I’m talking about proper standalone digital camera quality, here! That’s camera phones in the bag. But they also excel in music phones, and their Walkman series of mobile phones is synonymous with pure musical excellence. Having tried one myself, I can honestly tell you that they are great. Big moment!

Those are the main product ranges, but Sony Ericsson has other ranges, from modern phones to smartphones… and when I say smartphones, I mean ‘very, very smart, probably smarter than me’ phones. So from the ranks of fashionistas, you have the T650i and S500i, and from the ranks of their smartphones, you have the current grandmaster, the mighty P1i, which I consider to be the best smartphone on the market (well, Lo would, that’s the phone I use). Well, that will be until the P5 comes out later in the year… And then, of course, there’s the new Xperia X1, designed to conquer the US market.
