The joys of being parents!

Many years ago, when I was trying to find my way, I attended a success seminar where I heard a wise man on stage say that sales was both the highest paid hard job and the lowest paid easy job in the world. Now, all these years later, I find myself as a parent first, and perhaps a salesperson second, who is trying to sell his ideas to his children. And as a parent, sometimes I can’t help but think about what that wise man on stage said about the concept of the hardest and most rewarding job or the easiest and least rewarding job.

You see, over the years I have discovered, as have many of you, that parenting really is the hardest job in the whole world. But it is also the most rewarding job in the whole world. I can’t count how many times I’ve thought about pulling my hair out over something the kids did. And then one laughed and smiled with my wife at the sheer absurdity of it all. Children really do have a way of getting us parents to see the world differently. Hopefully… if we let it… in a better and more interesting way…

Something that will help with the craziness is routines. Routines will lessen our children’s perception that we are always bossing them around. Additionally, each of our children has their own unique personality. So let’s take some time to truly enjoy each individual child. And don’t miss out on opportunities to enjoy the little things that make our children happy.

Now, as my grandfather always said, “Go learn, lead and lead the way to a better world for all of us.” Keep the joys of being a parent in mind and in your sight because that will be the backup fuel you will need when doing the most difficult and rewarding work in this entire world. And once again, parents, thank you in advance for all that you do and for all that you will do…
