Experience what 6.3G feels like in the Tower of Terror. Built by both local companies and the park itself and designed by Swiss designer Ronald Bussink, the Tower of Terror is a vertical drop roller coaster that holds the record for being the tallest and fastest roller coaster in all of Africa. It is a must for all adrenaline junkies and probably the most daring ride of all in the park. Of course, there are plenty of other attractions to dust off your adrenaline glands in case this one scares you.
4D, that’s right. Now, the technical explanations for the differences between 3D and 4D continue to elude many minds (including mine!). Today, I want to tell you about the 4D cinema in Gold Reef City, which is another memorable experience on offer. This cinema format is the epitome of getting involved in the show. You can see the image in 3 dimensions, feel the action in the hydraulically moved seats and even smell what you’re seeing. I won’t tell you more, unless you find out for yourself.
The 1880s. This was when the gold rush began on the Witwatersrand and the cornerstone of the founding of Johannesburg. The Gold Reef City theme is centered around this gold rush. Visitors are transported back in time to the 1880s and can take a walk through the city, just as it would be in the 1880s. All the buildings imitate the design of the period and offer a special visit to the early days of Johannesburg . The museums offer a deeper insight into life back then and the mining museum offers a look at a gold pour, with real gold being poured into barrels. (Don’t touch this screen, I’m afraid)
