Will the black community ever own resources?

When most people think of a man with resources, they imagine a man with an abundance of money. If he is single, he is considered a highly sought after single. Most people believe that women are looking for men with access to resources. While money can buy comfort, levels of freedom, and even love, it doesn’t mean power. In order to power, you need to own natural resources.

On the one hand, the black community can celebrate the fact that there are now more black millionaires and billionaires than in the past. On the other hand, with a stable of wealthy blacks, the facts are that the black community cannot control prices, food and water supplies, media images, or transportation. To control prices, you must own oil wells, for example. That allows you to set prices for fuel and petroleum based products. If the black community owned a large number of oil wells, they could own the industry.

First, they could create jobs. Black Americans currently hold only 9% of jobs in the oil industry. By extracting the oil from the ground, he employs hundreds. Next, build refineries. That allows you to transform crude into other products. Then you open gas stations. At those stores, you can sell motor oil and transmission fluid made by black-owned companies. Second, if there were to be a fuel crisis, the black community would be better positioned to protect itself from the crisis. They would not have to be controlled by a fuel shortage in the global market, which drives up prices. They can set their own prices. This is an example of owning an industry.

By owning an industry you can pay lobbyists to write policy for that black owned industry. Those policies provide tax breaks, international agreements, and other benefits that create the right environment for continued growth. Those policies would also include certain protections for people in the community who work for those companies. That would put the black community in a powerful position to punish police for bad behavior. There would be no need to negotiate with the government or seek handouts. This would be power.

The same strategies can be done with gold, water, copper, iron ore, agriculture, and other natural resources. This could even create the possibility of a black-owned stock market. This would be the most effective way to create generational wealth, millions of jobs and become leaders in world trade. While having money is great, it doesn’t mean power. Owning natural resources puts you in a better position to own your own destiny.
