Oris is known for making excellently designed and manufactured wristwatches at lower prices than its competitors. The TT2 Williams F1 Day Date watch is no exception. The dial appears to have been constructed from blue carbon fiber, but it is not. In fact, the effect has been achieved by printing a pattern in blue on the black base dial. It would have been better if Oris had used blue carbon fiber, but unless you look very closely you can’t tell the difference. The outer dial is black and complements the blue dial. The day and date function is very nice, as are the polished stainless steel hour and minute hands that have been dipped in a luminous blue material for half their length; unusual, as most of the luminous hands on other watches usually extend the length of the hand. . Blue luminous material is also used on each of the hour markers; the Arabic numerals 3, 9 and 12 are also made of a blue luminous material.
The crown
The large signed crown perfectly matches the style of the watch; the large size and ribbed make it easy to roll up. However, it doesn’t come with the added security of a screw-down crown.
The bracelet
Oris is known for making some of the strongest and most reliable wristbands. The Oris TT2 Williams F1 Day Date watch bracelet is no exception. It is constructed of solid stainless steel, with press fit pins for the removable links. The bracelet tapers slightly from the rotating links of the case to the third link; Again, this is a bit unusual for a sports watch, but it looks good on this particular watch. The closure is a single button that opens and closes smoothly and stays strong and comes with the Oris logo as you would expect.
Many commemorative or sponsored watches are made to cash in on one product or another with the build quality and aesthetics of the watch taking a backseat.
